This year’s Endless Night Vampire Ball in New Orleans will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the House of Blues on Decatur Street.  Carfax Abbey will be performing.

The Vampire Ball hosts a mixture of vampyre, steampunk, pagan, neo-victorian, gothic, medieval and rock.  It has been described as a Venetian Masquerade Ball mixed with a Vampire Court, with the energy of a rock concert and the elegance of a burlesque cabaret.  Sounds crazy.

It is a formal masquerade ball and there is a dress code:
Level 3 – Elite
Examples: Venetian Carnival, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Intense Steampunk, All-Out Cosplay or Eyes Wide Shut, Kitra or Fred Samedi
Level 2 – Impressive
Examples: Aristocratic, Uniforms, Steampunk, Historical, Gothic Lolita, Latex, Black Tie,Leather, Neo-Victorian, Furries, Masquerade, Drag, Dandy, Undead Prom, Priests/Priestesses.
Level 1 – Minimal
Examples: Basic all Black-on-Black, Fangs, and Masques.
Level 0 – Forget it
Examples: NO (We are Serious) T-Shirts, Blue Jeans, Wife Beaters, Racist Symbols, Sportswear, Street Wear, Sneakers, Etc.
Of Course, Proper Zombies are Exempt from the Dress Code.

Fred Samedi

In case you’re not familiar with Fred Samedi, he is the guardian spirit of Endless Night events and came to Father Sebastiaan in a vision quest in preparation for the Vampire Ball of New Orleans in 2007.   He is inspired by and reflects the Haitian voodoo Loa – Baron Samedi, the Loa of the dead.

Gifts to bring

It is traditional for patrons of the Vampire Ball to bring an offering of a small gift of coins, candles, flowers, cigars, rum, black coffee, grilled peanuts or incense to Fred Samedi’s altar for his blessing on a successful event.  It is likely that a voodoo priest or priestess will perform a  commencement ritual by calling on Fred Samedi to join all revelers at the ball.

Be careful

Fred often will play pranks on patrons, encourage people who would never expect to meet to become friends, heal long lost relations between friends and introduce lovers to one another.

General admission is $53.
VIP Gold tickets are $75 and include t shirt and access to the VIP room.
VIP Platinum tickets are $199 and include t-shirt, limited edition Fred Samedi Pendant 2013, Meet and Greet with Father Sebastiaan and Inner Sanctum Soiree.
